The Celebration of Life
THANK YOU for making the FIFTH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE a success! On Saturday November 5th, we awarded 5 Scholarships to determined and deserving Students from Jacksonville and that would not have been possible without your generous donations.
The highlight for the standing room only crowd was Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, renown Neurosurgeon who was the first to successfully separate Siamese twins. During the address, Dr. Carson admonished the more than 300 guests who were packed in the Jacksonville Public Library to THINK BIG. We give sincere thanks to Dr. Carson for accepting our invitation to inspire our students and our community.

The Sixth Annual Celebration of Life will be held on
Saturday, November 3, 2012 – SAVE the DATE!
The Celebration of Life Annual Benefit comprises a Concert, raffle and Silent Auction that culminates into a Scholarship for determined and deserving students majoring in the disciplines of Health and Science at schools where they are under represented.
The Scholarship is managed by LJ Holloway & Associates, Inc., a local, non-profit organized under the I.R.S. Section 501 (c) (3) and governed by a Board of Directors and an Advisory Board (all of whom are committed to the community and experienced in education).
Annual award amounts vary according to the funds raised. Typically, the Board awards three Scholarships and each recipient receives between $500 and $1000 annually with the Goal of an Endowed Scholarship. Institutions, recipients and amounts are determined by the Board.
A Word from our Students
“This scholarship meant that the sleepless nights, early mornings, and investment in my future had finally paid off. My family who have supported me from the beginning had their efforts recognized as well. The scholarship for me and my family is not the end of a chapter, but just the beginning of my story.”
— Brandon Myers (‘08), Graduate of Florida A & M University
“The LJ Holloway Scholarship Fund provided the essentials I needed to ensure a positive, productive future. I am so honored that I received the scholarship and I look forward to future students receiving it as well.” — Clifton Green III (’10), Student of University of North Florida
“It was such a blessing to receive the Freedia M. Smith Scholarship at the Celebration of Life Annual Benefit. It was hard to focus during study and worry about finances to finish school. — Shannon Faulk (’09), Candidate for an Associates Degree in Nursing at Florida State College at Jacksonville.
